The Garmin 010-00705-45 is a mechanical corepack with solid state 9-axis attitude heading reference system (AHRS) which is designed for sailboats, as well as powerboats, with direct or cable-actuated steering systems giving captains that “extra set of hands” they need so you can safely attend to your sails without worry.
It’s patented Shadow Drive™ technology automatically disengages the autopilot if the helm is turned, allowing the helmsman to maneuver the boat. The autopilot automatically re-engages when a steady course is held by the helmsman. You can choose from 3 linear drives which are capable of driving many different steering systems that fit almost any midsize to large vessel.
The GHP Reactor is controlled using the GHC helm control unit. This control unit communicates with the autopilot system via a NMEA 2000 bus, so autopilot heading data can easily be shared with other devices. This enables MARPA and chart overlay when connected to a Garmin chartplotter. Up to three GHC controllers can be interfaced with a single GHP reactor.
